 Mission Among the Poor,
an Apologetical, Missiological, and Pedagogical initiative of Rev. Johnson Thomaskutty, who is a New Testament Historian and Apologist from India. He is a Biblical Faculty at Union Biblical Seminary, Pune, India. Currently, he is enrolled as a PhD Candidate under Professor Jan van der Watt, University of Pretoria, South Africa.

We Are Apologists!

We are an Apologetical Movement, working in the multi-cultural, multi-religious, and pluralistic context. The word Apologetics is derived from an ancient Greek word that means to provide a rational defense. Christian Apologetics is the defense of the truth of Christianity using reasonable arguments. The apostles employed apologetics in their preaching of the gospel by claiming that the resurrection of Jesus is evidence that Christianity is true. Apologetics allows us to talk intelligently with non-believers, providing a number of historical, scientific, and philosophical reasons for our belief. In addition, it bolsters the faith of Christians. Through Workshops, Seminars, International Festivals, Conferences, Demographic and People Group studies, Inter-religious Dialogues, and Web-materials, Mission Among the Poor, Inc. now has the resources for learning how to answer the difficult questions posed by non-Christians.

We Are Pedagogues!

Pedagogy is the art or science of being a teacher. The term generally refers to strategies of instruction, or a style of teaching. Jesus used his pedagogy of encounter to build communities and to lead them to the Reign of God. We find His method of pedagogy from His non-violent attitude, forgiveness and love for enemies, suffering servant model, atonement for humanity, call for repentance, and the establishment of the Reign of God. In the present day global context, we employ the principles used by Jesus, to teach the message of the Bible effectively to different walks of people.

We Are Missionaries!

Chattisgarh state of India is rich in its cultural heritage. It has its own dance styles, cuisine, and music. Gond, Kanver, Uraon, Korva, Kol, Bhariya, Binjhwar, Sawar, Dhanwar, Madiya and many other scheduled tribes are found in Durg District. People of Durg celebrate dance, music, marriage and other cultural festivals like Navakhani, Ganga Dushhara, Sarhul Chherka, Dashara, Dipawali, Karma & Karthika. Our Great Commission works are mainly centered in the Durg District. Our ultimate concern is to direct these varied people groups, who are superstitious in their faith and practices, toward the love of Jesus Christ. The people groups of these provinces, who are primarily scheduled castes/tribes, and Dalits, are longing for a relevant paradigm to alter themselves from the clutches of sin, Satan, and eternal damnation. The Gospel message is really a paradigm for them.
